Business Tax Catch-Up & Compliance Remediation
Several years of unfiled returns, books that don’t reconcile or missing 1099s? We reconstruct the records, file what’s missing and set up a process so it doesn’t happen again. Compliance diagnostics start at $1,500.
Reconstruct the records
We rebuild and reconcile the books from bank, card, payroll and third-party records, year by year.
Restore compliance and keep it
Missing returns and information returns filed, errors corrected, and a monthly process so you stay current.
For businesses with several years of unfiled returns, books that were never reconciled, missing 1099s or other information returns, or compliance gaps uncovered by a lender, investor, buyer or new owner. We rebuild the records, file what's missing and set up a reporting process so it doesn't happen again.
Signs your business needs a catch-up
Unfiled business returns
One or more years of federal or state business returns were never filed, or were filed with estimates that never got corrected.
Books that don't reconcile
Bank and credit card accounts haven't been reconciled, balances don't tie to statements, or the books stopped being kept at some point.
Missing information returns
Forms 1099, W-2s or international forms such as 1042-S or 5472 were not issued or filed for payments the business made.
Payroll and sales tax gaps
Payroll filings or sales tax returns don't match the books, or some periods were missed entirely.
Due diligence found problems
A lender, investor, buyer or new partner asked for clean financials and tax returns, and the business couldn't produce them.
Ownership or entity changes
New owners, a change in tax classification, or an S-corporation election whose status is unclear has left the filings out of step.
Catch-up vs. IRS Resolution
Business Tax Catch-Up
Restores compliance from the ground up: reconstructing the books, preparing every missing return and information return, correcting what was filed wrong, and setting up an ongoing process. Best when the records themselves need rebuilding.
IRS & State Tax Resolution
Focused on a specific notice, balance due, payment plan or penalty question. If you have a letter in hand and your filings are otherwise current, start with IRS & State Tax Resolution. Many catch-up projects use both.

Common Questions
How is this different from IRS Resolution?
IRS Resolution focuses on a specific notice, balance or payment arrangement. A catch-up project rebuilds the underlying records and filings across several years and sets up an ongoing process. If both apply, we coordinate them.
Will we owe penalties for filing late?
Late filing and late payment penalties and interest may apply. Depending on the facts, penalty relief may be available, for example for reasonable cause or first-time abatement. We estimate the exposure in the diagnostic, but no result can be guaranteed.
Can you work with missing records?
Usually, yes. We reconstruct from bank and card statements, payroll reports, IRS wage and income transcripts, customer and vendor records and other third-party data, and document any reasonable estimates.
How long does a catch-up take?
The diagnostic generally takes two to three weeks once we have access to records. The cleanup depends on the number of years, entities and records, and is scheduled in the written plan.
Do you represent us before the IRS?
We prepare the filings, reconciliations and written responses, and with your authorization on Form 8821 we can review your IRS records. Formal representation on Form 2848 is limited to a CPA, enrolled agent or attorney, and we coordinate with one when it's needed.
